Fresh off being named the CAF Player of the Year, Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen showed why he deserved the award by leading Napoli to a 2-0 win over Braga to secure advancement to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Osimhen was a constant threat to the Braga defense all night. He opened the scoring in the 23rd minute after a clever bit of skill to flick the ball over the onrushing Braga goalkeeper following a pass from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

It was a trademark Osimhen finish showcasing the combination of pace, power and technical ability that has made the 24-year-old one of the most feared forwards in Europe this season.

The goal took Osimhen’s Champions League tally to five goals in five appearances so far. It also helped Napoli control the game as they dominated possession and limited Braga’s opportunities.

After being named African Youth Player of the Year earlier this week, Osimhen proved he is shouldering the expectations and continuing his development into a truly world-class talent.
