Raheem Sterling’s breakaway goal against his former team gave Mauricio Pochettino’s squad a well-earned lead at the half, and Chelsea had chances to extend that lead. Erling Haaland squandered multiple opportunities to equalize as City pressed.
Rodri’s left-footed effort nicked the goal, deflecting it past Trevor Chalobah and into the net for Pep Guardiola’s squad. After a thrilling game, they had to settle for a draw despite their best efforts to win, which resulted in multiple fights within the Chelsea box.
Pochettino’s players showed their worth with their effort, as they were able to surpass Wolves once more and retake the top half of the standings with the draw. It’s possible that City regrets the lost points more. They are now four points behind league leaders Liverpool in third position.
