Woman Arrested For Attempting To Traffick 2 Females To Osogbo For Prostitution

A woman identified as Ifeoma Sunday has been sentenced to four months imprisonment by a Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State for human trafficking.

The convict – a 27-year-old female attempted to recruit two females to Osogbo, Osun state for exploitative prostitution.

She was not only sentenced to 4 months imprisonment, she was also asked to pay compensation to her victims, the sum of N300,000 i.e 150,000 naira each to the victims.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) says the offense contravenes the various provisions of the Trafficking in Persons Prohibition Law Enforcement and Administration Act 2015.

Also, recall that a businesswoman identified as Madam Florence Emeka has been arrested by operatives of the Bayelsa State Police Command over the alleged trafficking of two under-aged girls to Ghana for prostitution.

Madam Florence who lived at Twon-Brass in Brass Council Area of the State allegedly trafficked the girls, identified as Nengi, 15, and Preye, 14, to Ghana early this year for prostitution.

While Nengi was said to have escaped from Ghana to Lagos with the help of some concerned Ghanaians who gave her transport fare back to Lagos, Preye is stranded in Ghana with less hope of returning to Nigeria.

Madam Florence was promptly arrested and has since been transferred to Yenagoa for further investigation and possible prosecution.
