Retired Colonel Chinyere Obi, a former ardent supporter of the Labour Party, voiced her sincere remorse for having voted for the group in the general elections of 2023. She said that if she had known, Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate at the time, would have had her support.

At a press conference held yesterday in Abuja, she made this claim while bemoaning the fact that she had to pay over N5 million to convicted voters in order for them to support her candidate (the LP Presidential candidate).

Chinyere Obi stated in his own words, “I dedicated myself to the Labour Party’s cause. Julius Abure advised us to remember our heritage as the election approached and vote accordingly. As a result, I went back to my hometown in November and began a broad grassroots effort to promote Peter Obi, spending around N5 million.

If there is a curse that can be cast upon a person at the age of 75, I am casting it upon them. You might remember that I gave Tinubu and Atiku an 8-kilometer walking challenge last year. I am very conscious of the significant sum of money I spent in the Eastern area.

The most upsetting aspect of my experience is that despite being shot in the leg, none of the party leaders helped me. I even got in touch with Peter Obi, but he was of no help. I suffered in silence for three months while I was in the hospital.
