The former Nigerian Senator, author and activist has reacted to the development from the Nigerian National Assembly after the ruling All Progressives Congress has distanced itself from the principal officers announced by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.

In a recent post, Shehu Sani disclosed that Senator Akpabio and Abbas’s list seems to have been announced with the consent of the President but without consulting or harmonising with the party. The signal here is that the party leadership is shut out or kept at arm’s length.

Recall that the presiding officers of the National Assembly announced the new leaders at recent plenary but addressing the Governors of the party, the national Chairman identified as Abdullahi Adamu revealed that the party had no input in the names of lawmakers.

While Abbas named Julius Ihonvbere, lawmaker representing Owan East/Owan West Federal Constituency of Edo State was announced as the majority leader; legislator representing Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro of Kogi State, Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims, as deputy majority leader.
