According to the latest report from Vanguard paper, the Independent National Electoral Commission has explained why it declined to comment on the outcome of the election. INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu spoke at a meeting with the Residents Electoral Commissioner in Abuja, on Tuesday. The meeting, however, marked the commencement of the review of the conduct of the election.

While speaking, Yakubu said that following the conclusion, the time has come for introspection, stocktaking, review, and evaluation. He also said that since the election ended, diverse opinions have been made about the credibility, but they have not joined in the commentaries because they want to listen more and draw lessons rather than join in the heated and emotive public discussion on the election.
