Tinubu Ready To Position Nigeria—Alake

The Presidency, on Saturday, said President Bola Tinubu is prepared to steer the affairs of Nigeria in the direction that will position the country as the leader in the African continent.
Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communication and Strategy, Dele Alake, who told journalists this in Lagos, said President Tinubu recognises that Nigeria is being looked upon for leadership, and he is prepared to step up to the challenge.
The President had earlier in the day hosted President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea Bissau, who paid him a private visit at his Ikoyi, Lagos residence.
According to a statement by Director of Information in the State House, Abiodun Oladunjoye, Alake said while the visit was of a private nature, President Embaló took the opportunity to express his solidarity and willingness to cooperate with Nigeria under the leadership of President Tinubu.

No Regrets Demolishing Structures in Kano—Gov Yusuf

The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, says he has no regret demolishing some structures in the state capital.
Speaking while hosting the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, at the government house during the celebrations of the Eid-El-Kabir, the governor said, “Your highness it is important for the Emirate Council to note that we embarked on the demolition exercise to bring back public properties that were illegally acquired and we will ensure that all such properties are restored back for the interest of the good people of Kano.”
He reiterated that he has no regrets demolishing the structures the past administration of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje sold out.
The governor appreciated the Emir and members of the Emirate Council for the visit being the first of its kind since his assumption of office as he used the opportunity to enumerate the achievements of his administration in the last 31 days in office.
Railway debt servicing gulped $63m in Q1, says DMO

The Federal Government spent $62.66m to service railway-related debts in the first quarter of 2023, according to Nigeria’s external debt service payments report by the Debt Management Office.
Between January and March 2023, The Nigeria Railway Modernisation Project (Idu-Kaduna Section) took $23.1m
The Nigeria Railway Modernization Project, Lagos-Ibadan Section, gulped $15.49m. The total amount spent in Q1 2023 is a slight increase from the $61.73m spent in Q1 2022.
The rising railway debt servicing costs occurred as the government struggled to generate revenue from the railway sector.
The National Bureau of Statistics disclosed that rail transportation passengers declined by 53.65 per cent from 953,099 in the first quarter of 2022 to 441,725 in the first quarter of 2023.

A former member of the House of Representatives Alphonsus Komsol has said given the rich political pedigree and impressive record of achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigerians should expect a great deal of transformation from him.
