Tinubu doesn’t carry same baggage as Buhari about Igbos – Ojukwu

Lotanna Ojukwu, younger brother to the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the former Biafra Head of State, says he believes President Bola Tinubu is a different person from former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The younger Ojukwu said Tinubu doesn’t carry the same baggage as Buhari appeared to carry regarding the Igbo people. He was responding to questions on security issues concerning the Southeast region of the country.

He said that if the governors are sincere, they are enough to be able to talk to the president, they will achieve the result that they are seeking on the release of Nnamdi Kanu.

He stated that the most important fact is that the court has said Nnamdi Kanu should be released. He further stated that he believes Tinubu is a different person. He doesn’t carry the same baggage as Buhari appears to carry regarding the Igbo people.

A youth organisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Progressive League of Youth Voters for Tinubu and Shettima, has implored President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to introduce policies targeted at reducing unemployment in the country.

In addressing lack of jobs, the APC youths asked the president to tackle the growing unemployment by appointing young Nigerians into his cabinet.

Lamenting the rising cost of living among Nigerians, the youth organisation however backed the recent withdrawal of fuel subsidy, saying it was a bold step in the right direction.

Police dismiss officer for alleged baby theft

The Police Command in Lagos State has approved the dismissal of Insp. Samuel Ukpabio, over alleged baby theft.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, announced the dismissal on Thursday on his verified Twitter handle. He said the recommendation of Ukpabio ’s dismissal was approved on Thursday.

It could be recalled that a 35-year-woman, Fortune Obhafuoso, had accused Ukpabio, who was attached to Panti Division, of conniving with others to steal her day-old baby.

The single mother of three claimed that Ukpabio arrested her, accused her of attempting to sell the baby for N3m and forced her to write a statement to that effect.

Osun Govt reacts to reports of half salary, mass sack

The Osun state government has denied the press conference by a pressure group within the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) and fake news about plans to sack workers.

The government a statement signed by Mallam Olawale Rasheed noted that there is neither a plan to sack workers nor any re-introduction of half salary.

Olawale, the Spokesperson to the State Governor, noted that the report of half salary was old fake news sponsored by agents of the opposition which the public is implored to ignore.

The statement added that the government also wishes to state that Governor Ademola Adeleke is available to meet all stakeholders for the development of the state. As a responsive leader, the Governor has met many groups and associations since assuming office. Many of such groups are also lined up for appointments with the state chief executive officer including the protesting Pensioners.
