The Kano State Government has formally dropped its lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to prevent it from looking into Abdullahi Ganduje, the previous governor of Kano State.

In a letter addressed to Sanusi Musa, SAN, and presented before the Federal High Court in Kano, the government’s choice was made clear. The letter was dated July 4, 2023, and it was signed by the commissioner for justice and attorney general of Kano, Haruna Isa Dederi.

The Attorney General stated in the letter, “We write to notify you that Kano State Government and the Attorney General of Kano State wish to debrief you of the earlier instructions, given to you to handle the case between Attorney General of Kano State and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).”

Additionally, he gave the legal counsel the directive to forego making any future court appearances or filing any new paperwork In the matter.

The lawsuit was withdrawn after the Kano state government, then led by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, used the Ministry of Justice to issue a fiat instrument to stop the EFCC from looking into the contentious dollar video.
