A Human Capital Development Expert, Professor Okey Ikechukwu has alleged that Bola Tinubu emerging as President is not because the Former President, Muhammadu Buhari didn’t remove the fuel subsidy. Professor Okey speaking in an interview with Channels Tv stated that the President contended against physical and spiritual forces within his environment to win the election. According to him, if the sabotage measures instigated by the previous government had worked, the President would have lost the election.
He said, ”Let’s look at the variables. While the campaign was ongoing, President Tinubu lamented that those in Aso Rock were working against him. We also heard that the Naira rate design was targeted against his candidacy. And a lot of people from within the party, who are his boys came out to contest against him.
At a point, the view was strong that Buhari didn’t give his endorsement to Tinubu. In my view, Tinubu contended against physical and spiritual forces before emerging as President. To say that the single factor of not removing fuel subsidy was done deliberately to ensure that he won is not true. If the sabotage measure had worked, he wouldn’t have been President.”
