According to a news that was published by the Punch paper online this morning, it was reported that as the battle for the next Senate Minority leader continues among the senator of the 10th National Assembly, the opposition caucus in the Senate, had decided to cede the Deputy Minority Leader position to Labour Party’s Ireti Kingibe.

It was reported that Ireti Kinigbe, is the senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, FCT. And her choice was said to be premised, due to her support for Godswill Akpabio’s emergence as the Senate President and for gender balance in the House.
A source, who spoke under the condition of anonymity stated that, Kingibe will get the Deputy Minority Leader position and that the Minority Chief Whip, was likely going to the South-West geopolitical zone.
He said, “That of the Deputy Minority whipped has not been decided. So, it is unclear if the PDP will also give one to the opposition parties .At the moment, those to emerge as the principal officers might become clear in the course of the week when the chamber reconvenes.”
