Sanwoolu’s Greater Lagos Fiesta Flops
Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwoolu made a last minute effort yesterday to safe face by boycotting the New Year countdown show tagged Greater Lagos Fiesta. The poorly organised show was held at Eko Atlantic, Victoria Island.
Apart from the fact that the turn out was not impressive, A-list performers were not in attendance.
Leading the pack of performers was Styleplus and Marley.
The entire Fiasco was like a conference of government officials led by the deputy governor, Obafemi Hamzat.
Sources say resources made available were inadequate to stage a grandeur event like his predecessors. In the same vein, incompetent people were said to have spare headed the event management, including Hon Desmond Elliot who was saddled with talent hiring.
It would be recalled that the governor’s first attempt to hold the event was equally a failure that led to the sack of the then Tourism commissioner.
It is now on record that Sanwoolu’s tenure could not stage a successful grand countdown event.
Incidentally, Cable News Network that listed Lagos as one of its destination cities for countdown was relying on 2016 to 2019 data as evidenced in the photo credit of the report.
