Opay agent uses client’s N300k for BetNaija betting without permission
Rabi’u Isah Gaida, an Opay agent, has admitted to breaching trust, cheating, and stealing, at a Kano Shari’a court sitting in Kwana Hudu.
The prosecutor, Aliyu Abidin Murtala, explained to the court that Zubairu Musa Gaida had reported that the defendant, without his permission, transferred N300,000 from his account through an online transfer. When the charge was read to Rabi’u Isah Gaida, he pleaded guilty, confessing that he used the money to place a bet with BetNaija.
The judge, Nura Yusuf Ahmad, sentenced him to three months for breach of trust and six months for stealing. Additionally, he ordered the defendant to refund the N300,000 he had taken.
