As the nation continues to groan under the economic hardship occasioned by the soaring cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) across the country, Labour Party chieftain, Nana Sani Kazaure has come out to insist that though Peter Gregory Obi equally promised to remove fuel subsidies if voted into office, his approach, however, would have been far different from that of the Tinubu administration.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE TV’s ‘The Morning Show’ on Sunday, Kazaure, who was a spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, insisted that Obi’s approach would have been one of systematic removal of fuel subsidies in a manner that would not hurt the poor masses in the country.

She said; “Obi said he would remove fuel subsidies, but he promised to do it systematically, and not in one fell swoop. There would have been a systematic removal, and there would have been palliatives to shield the masses from the harsh effects of the policy.

There should have been palliatives in place that will ensure a cushioning effect to the removal of the subsidy, and not just hitting people hard by taking it out all at once. Yes, Obi said he would remove fuel subsidy, but he would have done it very differently.”
