Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has publicly shared his belief regarding a Christian leader in Nigeria who he thinks will be granted entry into heaven.Obasanjo confidently asserted that the late Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Mbang, CON, is the sole Christian leader in Nigeria he is certain will secure a place in heaven.

He made this declaration during the funeral service of the late Prelate in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on August 11, where Obasanjo held the position of Special Guest of Honour.CONTINUE READING

Obasanjo highlighted that the late Prelate was known for his honesty and lacked emotional biases. He recounted seeking advice from Dr. Mbang after his release from prison, particularly during the period when there was mounting pressure for him to assume the presidency of Nigeria. Obasanjo noted that he greatly benefited from the guidance he received from Dr. Mbang during that critical time.

The former President further emphasized that Dr. Mbang was someone he consistently turned to for advice due to his unwavering honesty. Obasanjo recounted occasions when he traveled to Akwa Ibom State to seek Dr. Mbang’s counsel, often using meetings with Governor Emmanuel Udom as a pretext to meet with the late Prelate.

Dr. Sunday Mbang, who had served as President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and became the first black President of the World Methodist Council, passed away in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on May 16, 2023, at the age of 86.CONTINUE READING
