Amid ongoing public backlash that has trailed a video showing the moment Bola Ahmed Tinubu was seen being conveyed in a large convoy of cars in the Lagos metropolis, Labour Party chieftain, Nana Sani Kazaure has come out to refute claims that her party’s flag bearer, Peter Gregory Obi is also guilty of moving around with an equally sizable convoy.

Recall that a few days ago, Obi had come out to criticize the use of multiple cars in the Presidential convoy, especially at a time when Nigerians are being asked to make sacrifices for the sake of the economy.

However, while appearing in an interview on ARISE TV’s ‘Morning Show’ on Sunday, Kazaure, who was a spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, was asked by the presenter, Steve Ayorinde, to explain why Obi criticized the size of Tinubu’s convoy when there is a video of the former Anambra Governor also using a large motorcade of cars during his election campaigns.

Reacting to the question, Kazaure insisted that Obi’s campaign convoy cannot be compared to that of Tinubu because the vehicles were donated and fueled by supporters of the Labour Party at the time.

She said; “There is simple explanation for Obi’s convoy. You must remember that our campaign was run on a lot of volunteerism. There were so many people that supported the movement of the Labour Party, and what Peter Obi represented. And I’ll put to to you that the cars you saw in Obi’s convoy were donated to the Labour Party campaign. The donations came from people who couldn’t attend our rallies physically, but they still wanted to be a part of what we were doing.

And there is no where that it written that we cannot accept donations from our supporters. People donated their cars, homes, buildings, time, energy, and even their skills. So, you cannot compare that to the convoy of a supposedly sitting President. Remember that the Labour Party came from nothing and managed to change the status quo. So, both situations are very different.”
