Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, the President of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, was asked about the alleged requests for an investigation into the previous administration led by former President Muhammadu Buhari. In response, he stated that it would not be objectionable if President Bola Tinubu chose to thoroughly examine the immediate past administration.
According to The Sun, he also pointed out that even former President Donald Trump is currently facing legal proceedings in the United States.
This information was reported by The Sun. Essien emphasized that there is no issue with Tinubu investigating Buhari because accountability is an essential part of democratic processes. He believes that people should be held responsible for their actions while in office.
Furthermore, he stated that there is nothing wrong with Tinubu looking into areas where illegal activities took place during the previous administration and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
In his words, “If Tinubu were to investigate Buhari, it would not be a significant issue. It is completely acceptable because, as you will find out, even former President Donald Trump is currently being tried in America. In a democratic society, holding individuals accountable is a normal part of democratic processes.”
