Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, president-general of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has requested the release of the jailed leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). He claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would acquire a great deal of respect in Nigeria and Igboland if he thought about doing just one thing—releasing Nnamdi Kanu.
According to him, “Tinubu is my friend and a friend to the Igbo, and he should know that there is a thing in Igboland. The release of Nnamdi Kanu is very important to us, and if Tinubu releases him, it would make him highly respected in Nigeria and in Igboland. He has not killed anybody, and he has not been charged with murder.”
In an interview with Punch paper, he made this decision in response to a recent statement made by Asari Dokubo, a leader of the Niger Delta, in which he urged Tinubu not to release Nnamdi Kanu.
