Col. Chinyere Obi (rtd), a former ardent supporter of the Labour Party, expressed sorrow about her decision to vote for the Labour Party in the general elections of 2023. At a news conference in Abuja, Obi revealed that while trying to stop some thugs from beating up a voter in Ideato, Imo State, during the election, she was shot by the thugs.

According to her, “I worked for the Labour Party. When it was time for the election, Julius Abure told us to return to our grassroots to vote. I left in November for my grass roots. I went from market to market, and I spent about N5 million on the campaign for Peter Obi. If there is a curse at 75, I am giving them that curse. If you can remember, last year I challenged Tinubu and Atiku to an 8-kilometer walk. I know how much I spent in the East.”

She added, “The most painful part of it is that I was shot in the leg and none of the party executives called me. I even called Peter Obi. I was in the hospital for three months. None of them sympathized with me. None of them called me at the FMC. Even at the hospital, I had to sell my Jeep for N1.5 million to offset my medical bills.”
