According to a news that was published by the Sahara Reporters Online this afternoon, it was reported that the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has said that the body language of the Nigerian President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, suggests that his government is not ready to genuinely fight corruption in the country, as he said this in a press release he made public today, Friday, in which he accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of softly handling cases of public officers, who were suspected of looting funds during their time of service in the country.
Comrade Timi Frank, urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to step up his efforts to hold corrupt officials accountable for their ugly actions, so that the arrest and the ongoing investigation of the suspended Central Bank Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, and the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), AbdulRasheed Bawa, will not appear to be motivated by a vendetta.
He said that many Nigerians, were happy and commended the actions the President took on these arrests but, at this time, he thought a lot of the people who looted the country under former President Muhammadu Buhari, would have by now been arrested, investigated and being prosecuted in court by now.
He said unfortunately, no further action has been taken to bring these corrupt people to justice and information at his disposal shows that, a lot of these looters were negotiating with his government for soft landing.
He said, “If care is not taken, it might turn out that Emefiele and Bawa are just victims, and that Nigerians will see President Tinubu appoint more looters into government. In other words, from your body language so far, we do not think you are ready to genuinely continue the fight against corrupt government officials, but only after those perceived not to have supported your bid to emerge as the President of the country.”
Timi Frank claimed that there are a lot of looters out there, which despite the plethora of evidence of corrupt tendencies that has been given against them, are going around freely, and it is very likely that nothing will happen to them anymore.
