The majority principal officers declared by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the House Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, were rejected on Tuesday by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which is chaired by Abdullahi Adamu.

The Guardian report that, The party has not officially contacted the presiding officers, claims the party’s national chairman.

At a meeting with party governors on Tuesday, Adamu made the announcement.

Recall that Opeyemi Bamidele was designated Senate Leader by Akpabio on Tuesday during plenary, while David Umahi, the former governor of Ebonyi State, was named Deputy Majority Leader, Mohammed Ali Ndume was chosen Senate Majority Whip, and Lola Ashiru was named Deputy Majority Whip.

Additionally, the Speaker designated Hon. Julius Ihonvbere of Edo State’s Owan federal constituency as the majority leader.

The Guardian report that, The Majority Caucus also announced the appointment of Hon. Adewumi Onanuga (Ogun, APC) as Deputy Majority Whip, Hon. Usman Bello Kumo (Gombe, APC) as Chief Whip, and Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims (Kogi, APC) as Deputy Majority Leader.
