Tinubu said, “To mention his name is a disgrace to me. He gives out wrong arithmetic and wrong statistics on the economy. That is not what Nigerians want. Nigerians need honesty, they need the man who knows the road to take, and that man is me,” Tinubu stated.
Reacting to this, Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, spoke through his media team. Obi’s team said that Tinubu does not appreciate facts and figures used by opponents in place of mere rhetoric. It also clarified that Peter Obi’s facts and figures are verifiable as analysts have been on them.
The Obi-Datti Media Office frowned at Tinubu and his party’s attempt to cast aspersions on the informed use of statistics by Obi adding that the APC candidate could not stand Obi’s statistics. The team noted that Obi has said repeatedly that his assertions were verifiable and challenged anybody with contrary facts and figures to come up.
The team also stated that analysts, media houses, and opponents have formed fact-checking units in their organizations to contradict Obi’s facts and figures but that has not happened. It concluded by saying that Obi’s opponent prefers to pull them down since they cannot beat or join them.
