The Executive Director of YIAGA Africa, Samson Itodo, has hinted that the reluctancy of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reveal what glitch hindered the electronic transmission of results of the February 25, 2023 Presidential election suggests that there might be more to what the Electoral Commission is not telling Nigerians; as he insisted that the Electoral Umpire owes Nigerians an explanation.

Samson Itodo had said, “INEC does owe Nigerians answers as to what happened to the IREV. Yes INEC has commenced its review process, it’s taking too long to get more informations.”

Mr. Itodo, who spoke during an interview on Arise Television, hinted that the reluctancy of INEC to reveal what glitch hindered the electronic transmission of results of the presidential election suggests that there is more that the Electoral Umpire is hiding from Nigerians. He made the hint after he maintained that even though INEC said it has begun its review of the electoral process, it is taking too long for the Electoral Body to explain what actually happened to the Results Viewing Portal.

Itodo said INEC has only told Nigerians that there was a glitch; but failed to explain the nature of the glitch. According to him, the Electoral Commission owes Nigerians an explanation as to what actually happened during the contest. He said this in reaction to the recommendations of the European Union that there should be electoral reform in Nigeria.
