Woman dies in stampede at Sanwo-Olu’s Lagos rally

A woman has died following the stampede that occurred on Saturday at the flag-off rally of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State at the Onikan Stadium.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the deceased, from Agege, is a member of the Arewa Women Humanity Forum and a strong supporter of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 election.

 

“Inna lillahi Wa inna ilayhi roojiuun, I am sad to announce the death of a Dear Sister in Agege, and also a member of AREWA WOMEN HUMANITY FORUM who died yesterday at the Onikan Stadium, at the flag-off rally of Governor Sanwo-Olu, due to Stampede,” a stalwart of the APC, Babatunde Muhammadu Quadri, announced via his known Facebook page on Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, addressing party supporters, Governor Sanwo-Olu, appreciated Lagosians for keeping faith with APC over the years, assuring them that they would not be taken for granted.

The governor, while noting the challenges his government had faced and come out of much stronger, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic, said Lagos was rising because of the achievements and the THEMES’ agenda of his administration.
