Hon. Kingsley Chinda, preferred candidate of ex-Governor Nyesom Wike, has emerged minority leader of the House of Representatives.

Chinda, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker from Rivers State is representing Obio/Akpor Constituency in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

According to Daily Trust, Wike has been advocating for his ally Chinda after parting ways with the PDP leadership after losing the presidential nomination last year.

The speaker of the 10th Assembly, Hon. Tajudeem Abbas, named the leaders of the majority and minority caucuses in the Green Chamber on Tuesday.

The majority leader was named as Julius Ihonvbere, a legislator from Edo’s Owan east/Owan west Federal Constituency.

Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims, a disgraced lawmaker from Kogi’s Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro, was appointed as the deputy majority leader.

Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, who represents the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo north federal district in Ogun, was chosen the deputy chief whip, and Bello Usman Kumo, who represents the Akko federal constituency of Gombe, was named chief whip.

Ali Madaki, who represents the federal constituency of Dala, was nominated by Abbas as the deputy minority leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

While George Ebizimawo of the Labour Party was selected as the deputy minority whip, Ali Isa of the PDP was named minority whip.

The Speaker revealed that the choice of the top officials from the ruling party had received the support of every APC member in the house.

As the chief officers assumed their positions of authority in the green room, he prayed for wisdom for each of them.
