According to a report by the Cable onl8ne newspaper, Phrank Shaibu, an aide to former vice president Atiku Abubakar on communication, asked that, how would Dele Alake, claim that the European Union has no right to speak when it was the largest single donor to INEC.
Prank Shaibu asked the rhetorical question today while reacting to the report by the federal government to dismiss a report by the EU election observation on the just concluded general election.
Recall that Barry Andrews, the European Union chief observer, faulted the INEX for the operational challenges and glitches experienced with the BVAS and the IReV and that INEC severely damaged public confidence in the electoral body.
However, today, the federal government rejected the report calling it a “a poorly-done desk job” and pleaded that EU should allow Nigeria breath.
Prank Shaibu who may have read the report by the federal govt to shun EU from passing comment reacted that INEC “failed woefully” he said until today, nearly 5 months, INEC is yet to complete the result upload, and how can it be then considered credible.
He then asked, “So, why would Alake claim that the EU has no right to speak when it was the largest single donor to INEC?
Recall that EU said in September last year that it budgeted 39 million euro for Nigeria’s 2023 election.
