Hon. Godfrey Gaiya, newly-appointed special adviser on Political Matters to House of Representatives Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas was asked to comment on why the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) failed to win the 2023 presidential election. According to the report published by the Sun, he claimed that the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, and the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, cost PDP the presidential election. He also added that he knew the party was going to lose when he saw that Wike and Peter Obi had issues with the party.
Gaiya, who is a PDP chieftain, further stated that he thought Atiku was going to reconcile with Wike and also work on an agreement with LP before the 2023 general elections but none of that took place.
“Wike cost us the election; Peter Obi and Labour Party cost PDP the presidential election. Don’t forget that both Wike and Peter Obi were part and parcel of the PDP. When they had issues with the PDP, I knew that we were finished.”
