This, it said, is because some criminals are on the prowl and may use the receipts and invoices to commit crimes and implicate the original users of the receipts and invoices.
Adebola Hamzat, Oyo State Police Commissioner. Many people are in the habit of generating e-receipts from Automated Teller Machines after financial transactions and leaving them at the machine stands while some get receipts from Points of Sale (POS) stands and just throw them away.
Also, some people buy PIN numbers for their phones and after loading them, the paper is thrown away while some get payment invoices from eateries and petrol stations and dispose them anyhow.
Apparently based on some cases it is currently handling in regards to the matter, the state police command urged residents and other citizens to always destroy the e-receipts as well as invoices after they have concluded transactions except if they are needed for future references.
