In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Umo Eno, Mr Ekerete Udoh on Wednesday, the union took the resolution following the intervention of Eno to address some of their challenges.
He noted that the governor held a meeting with a cross-section of Labour leaders drawn from the Akwa Ibom State University, at Government House, Uyo and promised to offset the 13th month salary bonus, three months palliative, the construction of some strategic roads within the main campus at Ikot Akpaden, among others.
The Governor charged the Labour leaders to work closely with government in delivering democratic dividends to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
Led by Comrade (Elder) Sunny James, the Chairperson of the Nigerian Labour Congres, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Dr. Inyang Udosen, the Chairperson of ASUU, AKSU chapter and others, the ASUU leaders lauded the Governor for his “labour-friendly” tendencies and assured that the planned strike will be called off.
