Lawyers representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, have expressed their satisfaction with the evidence presented by a witness during the ongoing Election Petitions Tribunal. The witness, a certified election observer, informed the panel of judges that only thirty-one percent of the results uploaded on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Result Viewing portal were mathematically accurate. This revelation was shared by Chris Uche (SAN), the Senior Advocate and lead counsel for the PDP, during a press conference outside the tribunal.

The witness’s testimony raises concerns about the accuracy and integrity of the election results published on INEC’s Result Viewing portal. The fact that only a small percentage of the uploaded results were found to be mathematically correct suggests potential irregularities in the electoral process. This information is crucial for the PDP’s case as they seek to challenge the outcome of the presidential election.

In his words: “We are very happy that today, the final report of an international observer group that was accredited by INEC, that is, the European Union Observer Mission, was tendered and admitted into evidence by the court. And a witness, who is a Director in INEC, read out the EU’s findings in that report, which clearly stated that the February 25 Election fell below expectations.

The witness also stated that only thirty-one percent of the results uploaded on IREV is mathematically correct. So, we think this is a very good one for our case.”

What’s your take on this?
