Steven Gerrard has been appointed as head coach of Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ettifaq. It is the 43-year-old’s first job since being sacked by Aston Villa in October after just 11 months in charge.
Before his stint at Villa, the former Liverpool captain had a three-year spell in charge of Rangers, who he led to the Scottish Premiership title in 2021.
Exeter defender Key close to joining Swansea
Josh Key is close to signing for Swansea from Exeter. The Championship side will need to pay Exeter compensation despite him technically being out of contract. The right-back also needs to have a medical and, all being well, he should complete a move to the Swans on Tuesday.
Key is set to be new Swansea manager Michael Duff’s first signing. The 23-year-old leaves short of playing 150 times for Exeter, scoring eight goals, including four in 46 appearances last season.
