Wike still Governor of Rivers, has reappointed his ex-commissioners – Eze alleges

Former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP) and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze has alleged that former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is exerting unlimited authority over the current helmsman, Sim Fubara.

In a statement made available to media houses in Port Harcourt, Eze claimed that it was for this reason that Wike did everything within his power to ensure that Fubara became his successor.

He said core decisions and critical business of governance are still being transacted by Wike

“Fubara must be alarmed that he remains responsible and accountable for every action taken on behalf of the state from May 29, 2023, when he assumed office until such a time when the courts will abrogate his illegitimate reign,” he said.

He said Fubara should have in mind that nobody will question Wike about what happens in the state under the current government.

Tinubu Rejects EU Report, Says Elections Credible

President Bola Tinubu has rejected the report of the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU-EOM), describing it as “a product of a poorly done desk job.”

He said the EU did not provide any substantial evidence ble enough to question the integrity of the 2023 election outcomes.

Presidential spokesperson Dele Alake stated this position in a statement on Sunday.

Nigeria held its general election in February and March. Supplementary elections were also held in April.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, Mr Tinubu defeated 17 other candidates to emerge winner and was inaugurated on 29 May.

His victory is however being challenged in court by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.

Fire Guts Hotel In Onitsha

Fire has gutted Sopurum Hotel, located in the Nkwelle community, a commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra State, burning a substantial part of the structure.

The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained, but it was gathered that the incident started at about 4:30 am on Monday.

Uzodimma, Mbah Others Harp On Igbo, Yoruba Unity

Imo State Governor and Chairman, South East Governors’ Forum, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, has assured the people of South East, particularly those that are resident in Lagos that the zone would soon be made comfortable for them to bring back their investments to their home land. He told them that plans were underway to host the South East security and economic summit, where issues of insecurity in the zone and investment bottlenecks would be tackled so that the much awaited rapid development of the entire region would take off.

He made the revelation on Thursday during a private chat with some Igbo businessmen in Lagos, as they assessed the situation of the Igbo people in Lagos, following the aftermath of the 2023 general elections. The Igbo in Lagos have suffered varying degrees of attacks and destruction of their means of livelihood since after the February 25 and March 18 presidential and governorship elections in the state. Among the long list of attacks and destruction of the property of the Igbo in Lagos was the recent demolition of about 17 shops belonging to them at Alaba International Market.

Igbo dignitaries that graced the event included the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, Senator Patrick Ndubueze, Chief Tony Chukwu, Major-General Obi Umahi (retd), Chief Ben Okoye, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, and Chief Jerry Chukwueke, among others.
