The Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign has raised alarm over alleged attempts to alter the February 25 presidential election results of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to satisfy sinister motives.

Manager of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign, Mr. Oseloka H. Obaze, subsequently, warned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, against tempering with IRev as it concerns the FCT.

He said this in a tweet yesterday, Obaze said that intelligence reaching the Campaign office showed that INEC was trying to yield to pressure to tinker with the results of some states including the FCT to enable the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to be in good standing.

A statement from the Obi-Datti Media Office signed by its Head, Diran Onifade, quoted Obaze as saying, “According to our source, INEC is tempering with the machines used in the election to adjust FCT results to give the APC candidate, the much-needed 25%, which he did not get as per the initial INEC declaration and for which he is being challenged at the Presidential election tribunal.

The senator representing Edo North senatorial district, Adams Oshiomhole, has said his blood pressure would have increased if he wasn’t elected to the national assembly.

Medically, a normal blood pressure level is less than 120/80 mmHG, while 180/120 is considered a hypertensive crisis and requires immediate medical attention.

Oshimhole, who spoke at an event organised in his honour at his hometown in Iyamoh, Etsako West LGA, said if he lost the senatorial election, he would have been mocked by his opponent, thus pushing his blood pressure to 240 by 360.

“If you had voted against me, my blood pressure will now be 360/240, that is if I’m still alive,” Oshiomhole said.

The president of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has been counselled not to meddle in the process leading to the election of the minority leader of the 10th Senate, saying such move could destabilise the Red Chamber.

A group, PDP Action 2023, in a statement yesterday in Abuja, charged Akpabio to avoid meddling in the issue of Senate minority leadership but concentrate on assisting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to deliver sound legislation and good policies to ensure good governance in Nigeria.

The group expressed surprise why some elements in the majority party and their collaborators were desperate to control the leadership of the minority parties in the Senate.

The statement, signed by its chairman, Dr Rufus Omere, noted, “Since the issue of minority leadership of the 10th Senate became topical, the media has been awash with contrived, manufactured, sponsored, desperate, irresponsible and generally distasteful stories planted by people with inordinate ambition to stifle the voices of opposition and future accountability in the 10th Senate.”
