N’Deta groups support Tinubu for retaining NDDC MD, others

A coalition of Civil Society groups and Community Based Organisation in the Niger Delta have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for retaining the positions of the Managing Director, Executive Director of Projects, and the Executive Director of Finance of the Niger Delta Development Commissíon, NDDC.
They said naysayers to the decision of Tinubu regarding the three positions in the Commissíon are ignorant of the enabling act establishing the NDDC, stressing that the President’s decision was in compliance with the enabling act.
This was contained in a statement endorsed by Barr Afoegba Peter Goodyear, on behalf of
Movement for the Survival of Izon Ethnic Nationality, (MOSIEND)Association for Non-Violence in the Niger Delta Niger Delta Coalition for Peace and Progress, Niger Delta Non-Violence Youths Leaders Association, and Rivers State Youth Leaders Assembly.

Elumelu who recently celebrated his 60th birthday ascribed his looks to some health and fitness decisions he took before clocking thirty.
The stylish banking mogul made this known his Twitter page on Monday while sharing a stunning photo of himself during a fitness routine.
The photo caught the eye of many with some expressing concerns about his spine due to the posture of his body.
The sexagenarian, however, explained that engaging in some health and fitness routine is the reason he does not feel like a 60-year-old man.
UK foreign secretary calls for expansion of UN security council

The British foreign secretary, James Cleverly has said the global south should be given a more powerful voice at the world’s table by expanding the United Nations security council.
Cleverly also called for a review of the use of the veto by the council’s five permanent members, adding that the third world countries are not well represented as their voice is not heard even on issues of direct concern to them.
In a speech billed as the first in praise of the global multilateral system by a Conservative foreign secretary for 30 years, he said he had listened carefully to the global south’s leaders and that they felt wealthy countries were “hoarding power and neglecting their responsibilities”.
Nigerian students agitate reform of the nation’s education system

Federal and State governments have been charged to set up an independent committee, made up of education experts to study various reforms in the education sector, since independence and come up with a strategy that will enable the nation to move forward.
Participants at the 2023 Biodun Lawale Interschool Competition, made called an inter School Debate Competition, put together by Abeokuta Junior Chambers International, with support from Learn Africa.
The students, who were speakers at the inter School Debate Competition, said the government should accord every segment of education its rightful place.
They said, every segment in the education sector should have codified objectives that are subject to periodical evaluations.
