The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has urged President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress to admit that they rigged the poll.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Public Communication to Atiku, Phrank Shaibu.
In the statement, Atiku praised the European Union Election Monitoring Group for stating in its report that the last election was indeed fraught with electoral irregularities and failed to meet the minimum standard of credibility.
Atiku also lambasted Bola Tinubu and his spokesman, Dele Alake, for trying to discredit the EU’s report.
According to the statement, even the dead knew that the last election lacked credibility and even the Independent National Electoral Commission had been unable to explain why nearly five months after the election, it had refused to upload the full results on its result viewing portal.

The Chief of Staff to former Director General of Tinubu /Shettima Campaign Organization, Yakubu Dati has said that his principal the former Governor Simon Lalong is keeping faith that his contribution to the emergence of President Tinubu is appreciated by the President.
According to Dati, “To be the director general of a campaign organisation, especially a presidential campaign council, is no mean feat, as it requires all the tact, resourcefulness, wisdom and political wizardry to get the job done.
“To be sure, the DG is the live wire of any campaign. Apart from coordinating activities to facilitate the victory of the principal, the DG identifies likely threats and works out ways to take care of such immediately.”
He also said the DG personifies the campaign such that his aura -either positive or negative- rubs off on the campaign.
“In the build up to the last presidential elections in Nigeria, the immediate past governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong, was the face of the campaign and his aura turned things around for good for the APC presidential campaigns.
Two killed, dozens wounded in US mass shooting
At least two people were killed and 28 wounded in a mass shooting at a street party early Sunday in the US city of Baltimore, police said.
Police received multiple calls about a shooting in the city’s Brooklyn neighborhood just after 12:30 am Sunday (0430 GMT), Acting Police Commissioner Rich Worley told a press conference.
“Upon officers’ arrival we located multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds,” Worley said.
One 18-year-old woman was found dead at the scene in the East Coast port city, and a 20-year-old man died after being taken to hospital, a police statement said.
The wounded were being treated at area hospitals, he added, with three of them in critical condition.
Worley said authorities were working to identify a suspect and determine a motive for the shooting.
“This is an extensive crime scene, our detectives are going to be here quite a while,” he said.
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, speaking to reporters at the crime scene, condemned the shooting.
“This is an absolute tragedy that did not have to happen,” he said.
“It again highlights the impacts and the need to deal with the over-proliferation of illegal guns on our streets and the ability for those who should not have them to get their hands on them,” Scott said.
