Festus Keyamo, a former minister of state for labour and employment, recently shared his views on the debates sparked by the European Union Election Monitoring Group’s report on the recent general elections in Nigeria. Keyamo stated, “Declaring certain aspects of an election or electoral process as ‘flawed’ is not synonymous with saying the whole process was a cataclysmic failure,” clarifying a distinction that many people have overlooked.

He further highlighted that reports of irregularities in specific locations are common in elections worldwide. The crucial question to consider is whether these alleged anomalies significantly impacted the election to the extent that losers or winners may have been affected. Keyamo pointed out that if every instance of reported anomalies led to the annulment of the entire process, it would be possible to hold numerous elections without a definitive winner.source: twitter
