He discussed the 2023 Presidential Election and highlighted that the North, which comprises both Christians and Muslims and is known for its political sophistication, provided significant support to all four candidates: Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed explained that the reason behind the North’s decision to grant Tinubu 63% of their votes was their belief in his potential. The Northern region saw promise in Tinubu and entrusted him with their support. However, he expressed his hope that Tinubu would not disappoint the region.
According to Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, there is a lack of understanding about the political dynamics of the North among some individuals outside the region. He emphasized that the North is politically sophisticated, representing a diverse population of both Christians and Muslims. This diversity contributes to the North’s discerning approach to politics.
