Veteran Nollywood actress, Joke Silva has spoken on her marital struggles with her husband and veteran Nollywood actor, Olu Jacobs, as she stated that the husband she knew is no longer there, but she is still in love with the man that is with her.
In an interview with popular media personality and actress, Nancy Isime, Joke Silva revealed that her husband’s ailment has changed him.
The veteran actress reflected on the early years together with her husband as she spoke on how his battle with dementia has affected their relationship.
She admitted that it has not been easy, but there came a point of acceptance along the line after she realized her husband’s ailment, and she also stated that the person she got married to 80 percent of the time is no longer there.
Joke Silva also acknowledged that Olu Jacobs was an incredible father, amazing husband and her best friend when he was still up on his feet. However, she made it known that it is now like she is looking after her father, as the person she knew as her husband is no longer there, but the person that is present with her at the moment is someone she still loves, although in a different way.
She said: “In this journey now, it’s like I’m looking after my father. That’s the way it has become, the husband I knew is no more there, but this man that is here is somebody that I still love, but love in a different way.”
