Akon, a 50-year-old Senegalese-American musician, has admitted that Nigerians are very smart people, noting that the bad apples amongst Nigerians are the ones painting the country black and putting it in a bad light. It should be noted that Akon has shown his love for Nigerians in the past as he has songs with some Nigerian musicians.
According to a report by the Guardian paper, the singer said, “This could be debatable, but the Nigerians are the smartest people on the planet. I promise you, there is nobody smarter than a Nigerian.”
Further speaking, he said, “Of course, there are a few bad apples that came out. The bad ones are extremely smart. But they put their intelligence in the wrong place.” He stated that if this smartness is put to positive use, it will be productive, as more Billionaires are being made in Nigeria than in any other country.
