The former governor of ogun state, Senator Gbenga Daniel, has, according to a report by the Punch paper, written a letter to the current governor of his state, Dapo Abiodun, to suspend his monthly allowance.

Gbenga Daniel, who now represents the Ogun state east in the 10th Nigerian senate said, “I want the Ogun state government to suspend my over six hundred thousand naira (N676,376.95) because I don’t want to start receiving double emoluments since I am now a senator.”

Speaking further, senator Gbenga Daniel said, “it would be recalled that on the 13th June 2023, I was inaugurated as a member of the 10th National Assembly.”

Lastly, senator Gbenga Daniel said, “I am making this allowance suspension request as a result of my moral principle and ethical code. The state government should note however that since I left office in 2011, I have never received any other form of welfare form the government.”
