Somebody Who Claims To Be A Good Muslim Or A Good Christian Will Pick Up Arms And Kill People-Sultan
The Sultan Of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has expressed concern over individuals, claiming to be devout Muslims or Christians, resorting to violence and attributing their actions to religious motives. He challenged this behavior, citing religious teachings that unequivocally condemn unjust killings. Quoting an Islamic perspective, he emphasized that taking a life unjustly is akin to taking the life of all humanity, rebuking the misguided belief that such actions lead to paradise.
The Religious leader speaking at the passing out ceremony of Sokoto State Community Guard Corps called upon religious leaders to collectively examine these issues and explore potential solutions, stressing the urgency of the matter. He said in a speech reported by Channels TV, ”It is important for us to talk about insecurity and how do we overcome insecurity. But it’s also important for us to look at what caused the insecurity in the first place and deal with such issues. Can we continue to use force in trying to bring security to our people? Because it’s confusing to everybody.
Somebody who claims to be a good Muslim or a good Christian will pick up arms and kill people. And then claim that he’s doing so in the name of God and he will enter paradise. Definitely, you will not enter paradise because almighty Allah said to kill a soul is like taking the life of all humanity. So you can’t kill anybody unjustly. It’s important for us religious leaders to look at such issues and see what we can do because time is going and time waits for no one. Things are getting worse and worse.”
