Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State has set up a nine-man panel to review all appointments made by former Governor Aminu Tambuwal close to the end of his administration.
The commission, which is led by the former minister of police affairs, Malami Dingyadi, has been expressly tasked with reviewing the renaming of tertiary institutions and the nominations of some traditional rulers.
The panel will also look at the transfer of the institutions and the appointment of members of their Governing Councils by the previous administration, according to a statement made on Monday in Sokoto by Malam Abubakar Bawa, the Governor’s Press Secretary. According to Daily post.
They must also examine all recent nominations made by former governor Aminu Tambuwal to traditional rulers and handle any complaints made against some of the individuals so appointed.
“It is also to further advise the government on any matter of public interest related to issues on the matter.”
According to The Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Aliyu ordered the annulment of the name of the tertiary institutions and suspended the appointments of the affected traditional rulers upon taking office.
Additionally, he disbanded the boards of directors for all parastatals and governmental institutions.
Bature Shinkafi, Dr. Kulu Abubakar, Isa Sadiq-Achida, Suleiman S/Fulani, and Dr. Umar Yabo, who serves as Secretary, are some of the members of the investigative panel.
