Senator Shehu Sani has sparked a flurry of reactions from fellow Twitter users to a tweet in which he called out the police across different countries across continents of the world for being behind major uprisings in those countries.
In the said tweet, the former lawmaker highlighted major uprisings and protests around the world which arose as a consequence of the actions of the police, mostly from brutality toward citizens.
He wrote:
“ARAB Spring protests; caused by police.
AMERICAN Black Lives Matter protests; caused by police.
NIGERIAN EndSARS Protests; caused by Police.
IRANIAN Protests; caused by police.
FRENCH Protests; caused by police.”
Unsurprisingly, the majority of the people who reacted to his tweet mostly agreed with him.
Some of them, however, argued that the police are mere tools or agents of the real oppressors who use them to foment trouble. They insisted that the real cause of these uprisings is usually poor governance for which the politicians are responsible.
