The incident at Amaraku Market in Imo State, where a seven-month-old baby was allegedly kidnapped by a suspected child trafficking syndicate, has caused intense tension among the buyers and sellers in the area. According to eyewitness reports, the child trafficker had targeted the crying baby, who was wrapped on the back of her mother while she was busy selling at her shop.

The suspect approached the mother and offered to help carry the crying baby. The unsuspecting mother agreed and handed over her child along with a wrapper. While the mother continued to sell her wares, the suspect disappeared into the crowd with the baby. When the mother realized her baby was missing, she started screaming and seeking help from other traders, but their efforts to find the child were in vain.

Eyewitnesses expressed shock and concern over the incident, as it is unusual for someone to trust a stranger with their baby in such a crowded market. Some speculate that the suspect might have used a charm or some form of manipulation to gain the mother’s trust.
