Kenneth Okonkwo who is one of the lawyers of Peter Obi at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has stated that INEC opened their case today in court and the first witness of INEC said that the duty of the Presiding Officer on election day is to snap the form EC8A result sheet and upload on IReV portal.
He said that the electronic transmission of result was tested on February 4, 2023 and was confirmed okay. The INEC’s witness also admitted that the content of form EC8A snapped with BVAS must be the same with the one uploaded on IReV.
Reacting to what INEC’s witness said in court today, someone said that he sees two possible things, which are; a rerun election and the usage of 25% of votes scored in FCT to decide who won the election.
Someone else said he thought the witnesses of INEC would be more than one, and that it seems INEC has nothing to defend.
INEC stated that they had a technical glitch on the day of the Presidential Election that was why they couldn’t transmit the results real-time from the polling units.
Now, INEC has said that they tested the electronic transmission of result before election and was confirmed okay. The question is, what now happened on the day of the election?
