On May 15, a passer-by took a video of iconic afrobeat singer and ace saxophonist, Seun Kuti, slapping a uniformed police officer. The video which has since gone viral got the singer on the radar of the Nigeria Police Force.

Shortly after, he was invited by the Police, detained and charged in court. However, the case has been stalled due to certain reasons which is due to the absence of Adeola Olatubosun, magistrate of the Yaba court, Lagos state.

The 40-year-old was taken into custody and appeared in front of the Yaba magistrate’s court. According to Daily trust.

The Agency of Nigeria reported on Monday that Kuti and his attorney were present in court.

Additionally present in the court was the prosecutor’s attorney. However, Olatubosun’s absence prevented the procedure from going on.

Additionally, the court omitted to explain the absence.

The decision was then postponed until September 27.

Kuti recounted his unpleasant imprisonment experience earlier in June.

He claimed that because of the “extreme” heat and overcrowding, his first 24 hours in prison were “difficult” for him.
