PHOTO: Lagos State Govt uncovers fuel depot inside uncompleted building in Lekki

The Lagos State Government on Saturday, March 9, uncovered and destroyed a fuel depot being operated inside an uncompleted building in the Lekki area of the state while some shanties beside the uncompleted building were also demolished.

The Director of Public Affairs of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Kunle Adeshina, who announced the development on his X handle, disclosed that the fuel depot was uncovered at Rock Drive, off Bisola Durosimi-Etti in Lekki Phase 1 area of the state.

According to him, following information received about the operation of the fuel depot from residents of the area, enforcement officers from the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), popularly known as KAI, swooped on the fuel depot.



They were supported by officials from the Monitoring, Enforcement and Compliance department of the ministry with security back-up and went ahead to destroy the fuel depot which had been operating at the uncompleted building for some time.

The team also went ahead to demolish the various shanties erected at the area which were apparently being used as residence by some of the operators of the fuel depot and others.

Adeshina wrote: “Enforcement officers from KAI/LAGESC, supported by officials from the Monitoring, Enforcement and Compliance department with security back-up on Saturday swooped on an illegal fuel depot and shanties in an uncompleted building at Rock Drive, off Bisola Durosimi-Etti in Lekki Phase 1.”

In the video posted by Adeshina, the KAI officials were seen using various equipment to destroy the fuel depot as well the demolition of the shanties in the area.
