Samuel Ortom

The governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom, has lost his senatorial bid for the Benue north west constituency to a former aide, Titus Zam.

Zam, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was a special adviser on local government and chieftaincy affairs to Ortom until the governor defected to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2018.

Zam secured 143,151 votes to defeat Ortom, who scored 106,882 votes.

Also, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mike Gbillah, scored 51,950.

Ben Ayade

The governor of Cross River state, Ben Ayade, has lost his bid to return to the senate following his defeat to the incumbent senator representing Cross River North, Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe.

Ayade, who was in the senate between 2011 and 2015, got 56,595 votes, while Agom-Jarigbe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured 76,145 votes.

Umar Ganduje 

Umar, the son of Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of Kano state, has lost his bid to unseat the incumbent house of representatives member representing Tofa, Dawakin-Tofa and Rimingado federal constituency.

The governor’s son lost to Tijjani Jobe, the lawmaker currently representing the constituency under the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

The NNPP senatorial candidate secured 52,456 votes, while Ganduje, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), got 44,809 votes.

Jide Obanikoro

Jide Obanikoro has lost his bid to represent Eti-Osa federal constituency in the house of representatives.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday, February 26, declared Thaddeus Attah of the Labour Party (LP) as the winner.

Attah won with 24,075 votes, beating his counterparts, Olubankole Wellington (Banky W) of the PDP who had 18,666 votes, and Obanikoro of the APC, who secured 16,901 votes.

Nnenna Ukeje

Former member of the Green Chamber, Nnenna Ukeje, has lost her bid to represent Bende federal constituency at the house of representatives to Benjamin Kalu.

Ukeju, who is the candidate of PDP, got 3,930 votes, while Kalu, who ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured 10,020 votes out of the 22,308 votes cast to secure his second term mandate.

It is worth noting that Ukeje had represented Bende federal constituency for three terms but lost the ticket for a fourth term bid in 2015.

Chinedum Orji

The speaker of Abia house of assembly, Chinedum Orji, has lost his bid to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia south federal constituency.

Orji, son of the former governor of Abia state, Theodore Orji, lost to the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Obi Aguocha.

The LP candidate polled 48,199 votes to defeat Orji of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 35,196 votes.

Ogbonnaya Obilor, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) got 4,042 votes, while Ogbonna Abariukwu of APGA secured 2,758 votes.

Olujimi Abiodun

The incumbent senator for Ekiti south senatorial district and former senate minority leader, Biodun Olujimi, has lost her seat to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and member of the house of representatives, Yemi Adaramodu.

The APC candidate got 63,189 votes as against Olujimi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 36,191 votes.

Notably, the APC cleared all the national assembly seats in the just-concluded election in Ekiti state.

Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi

The governor of Enugu state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has lost the Enugu North senatorial district election to Okey Ezea.

Ezea, candidate of the Labour Party (LP) polled 104,492 votes to defeat his closest rival, Ugwuanyi, who got 46,948 votes.

Solomon Dalung

A former minister of sports, Solomon Dalung, has lost his bid to be elected into the house of representatives.

With just 3,369 votes, Dalung, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), came a distant third in his Langtang North/Langtang South constituency of Plateau state.

The eventual winner, Beni Lar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scored 42,008 votes.

By virtue of the victory, Lar will be representing the constituency for the fifth time.

Ndudi Elumelu

The minority leader of house of representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, has lost his seat to Ngozi Okolie.

Elumelu is the incumbent member representing Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency at the lower chamber.

Okolie, candidate of the LP, polled 53,879 votes to defeat Elumelu, who secured 33,456 votes.
