Concerns have been voiced by the Obi-Datti presidential campaign in the election on February 25 regarding alleged attempts to alter the Federal Capital Territory’s preliminary results in order to achieve sinister objectives.
In a statement issued by the Vanguard papers on their official Twitter handle, the Labour Party’s campaign manager, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, warned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, against interfering with IREV as it relates to the FCT.
In a statement from the Obi-Datti Media Office signed by its Head, Diran Onifade, Obaze was quoted as saying, “According to our source, INEC is tempering with the machines used in the election to adjust FCT results to give the APC candidate the much-needed 25%, which he did not get as per the initial INEC declaration and for which he is being challenged at the Presidential Election Tribunal.”

Given the hocus-pocus the Electoral Commission employed to declare the APC nominee the victor at 4 a.m., nothing can be taken for granted. How they could behave so blatantly is a mystery.
Obaze, a former UN ambassador, cautioned INEC that their efforts amount to beating a dead horse and that, whether or not the accusations were accurate, the public’s trust in them has long since decreased.
