Senators from the North have lamented the increasing level of insecurity across their geopolitical zones.
Lamenting the incessant killing, the Senate Whip, Ali Ndume, noted that the issue was out of hand as bandits were taking over.
He said, “Insecurity is on the rise these days. You see what happened in Niger State where over 20 soldiers were killed. Jos is also on fire now, with killings here and there.……Read Full Story Here………
“Borno State has also been experiencing a lot of attacks by insurgents; even my local government is not spared.
“Just last week, people were killed. In fact, when they unleashed their terror, the soldiers also had to run away and leave the people. It was after things settle the soldiers came back.”
Other lawmakers like Senators Abdulaziz Yari, Aliero Adamu, Mohammed Monguno, Kawu Abdurrahman, Samaila Kaila, Aliyu Bilbis, Sani Musa, Aminu Tambuwal, and also lamented killings and banditry in the region particularly in Zamfara State.
Earlier, Senator Yari bemoaned the killings and banditry attacks in five local governments in Zamfara state such as Maru, Bubgudu, Bukuyum, Anka, and Maradun.
The former Zamfara governor lamented that the state is surrounded by two major forests Sugugu and Rugu which provide adequate cover for the bandits, “making Zamfara state more vulnerable to such attacks than any other state in Northern Nigeria.”
He added, “Zamfara state Government has over the years put in place a lot of measures to bring an end to the Menace including but not limited to providing logistics to security agencies as well as engaging the bandits on dialogue with a promise of laying down their arms to be reintegrated back into the society. Hundreds of lives have been lost to such attacks in the State over the last four years.”
The lawmaker also urged the Federal Government to deploy modern technology like drones to monitor the operations of the bandits.……Read Full Story Here………
